All tend to be self-employed, enjoying the independence of managing their own lives, but appreciating the value of belonging to a generous community of helpful like-minded people.

If in attempting to answer each others' questions, we fail to take into account this personal context, we will fail to have anything very useful to contribute to the business issues raised.  Values, life history, personal preferences and financial situation all define the issue and how it is approached.

Say you have a question – our Network members bring their years of experience and specialist skills to bear, (and you too become one of those members sharing your special knowledge). But few questions that are worth asking have simple answers; in most cases we need more background information than the shorthand of the Internet allows. Our aim in the Forum is to start a conversation, which you can continue offline - by telephone or email.

If your question is worth asking, a good specific answer has a value too. As a rough guide, we suggest that after an initial few minutes of generous networking time, a very nominal fee of something like £10 for 15 or 20 minutes is agreed between you. The relationship that develops beyond this is also up to you both to negotiate – a further conversation, joint venture, a consultancy arrangement, buddies or a swap/exchange. And you can use the Forum again to tell us the results and conclusions you came to.
